How to access the admin panel of your wireless router?

In the previous post was described how to find the router’s IP address. Here you will see how to access its Admin Panel.

Routers are designed to be easy installed but to set up a wireless  router we need user name and password in order to access to the admin panel . If you have brand new device just follow its manual. But if you have used device and don’t know  the user name and password you have to do the following things.

First reset the router  back to the factory default settings. This can be done with a small button labeled “RESET” on the back side of  the router. Almost all models have such button. With the router turned on press that button and hold it for 10 seconds , or until the lights on the front of the router stop blinking. The router will reboot within about a minute and be ready for configuring. Type router’s IP address in your browser.

The 3 most used IP addresses are :

  • 192.168.0.1
  • 192.168.1.1
  • 192.168.2.1

Then you will be asked for user name and password. Most likely the user name is    “admin”   or just blank field. The password could be also “1234″.

These are the most used  user names and passwords but some manufacturers use others wich are hard to  find without a manual. If you have difficulties with setting up your router see  this page where you can find the default usernames and passwords for many models of routers.
