Hard drive upgrade in LG GS50
This laptop came with 40Gb IDE hard drive, which can be easily upgraded. Just follow the steps below.
Important: Before you start the upgradeĀ please turn off the laptop, unplug the AC power adapter and remove the battery.
1. Remove the screw fixing the drive.
2. Carefuly slide the case containing the hard drive out of the computer.
3. Remove four screws, securing the drive to the case.
4. Note that the electronic part of the drive is covered with a thin metal shield contacting with the chassis of the laptop at one of the corners. When you install the new drive make sure to mount the shield properly so that its contact does not touch the circuit board.
5. Fix the new hard drive to the case by replacing the metal cover and the screws.
6. Carefuly slide the drive into the bay until it is fully seated.
7. Replace and tighten the screw.
8. After the new hard drive is installed, check your BIOS to see whether it is detected. If yes, you are ready to reinstall the operating system and the drivers for it.
