intel-logo-blueIntel Corporation begins a multi-country challenge for end-user PC enthusiasts to build the coolest looking desktops powered by Intel Core i7 and Core i5 processors. The competitors have the opportunity to build an incredible mod desktop that will envision the possibilities of tomorrow’s technology – from new gaming PCs to innovative platforms for home automation. Participants can choose to compete in two contest categories:

  • Mod Creativity: In this category competitors will present  machines, showing innovations in lighting, cooling, liquid emersion, cut case and creativity.
  • Lifestyle Innovation: This is for those who want to build a futuristic home automation PC platform, that improve one’s lifestyle through wireless media centers, lighting automation and security integration and more. If you choose to build such a system, you have to show what can your mod do to make your life easier and how does it fit in to your lifestyle.

The Contest starts October 5, 2009  and will end on November 16, 2009. It’s open to anyone 18 years of age or older located in the United States, Canada (except Quebec), United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Japan. All participants will be required to create a free user account to compete. To enter the Contest you have to visit the Contest Website and complete the registration form, whereafter you will receive a contest confirmation e-mail and access to your account. Then you will be prompted to upload detailed information about your mod submission. This information can include pictures and video showing the cosmetic features of your submission. All eligible Submissions for the Contest will be screened by a panel of judges comprised of sponsors, Intel employees, and industry experts. Competitors  will be awarded up to ten points per factor, for a total of 50 points, according to the following factors:

  1. Overall mod creativity.
  2. Mod paint job/creativity.
  3. Technical enhancements.
  4. Demonstration creativity.
  5. Futuristic vision.

Intel will decide who will be finalists, choosing the Submission with the highest points awarded for the Overall mod creativity factor. Finalists will be notified on or about December 14, 2009 via email as provided upon registration. From November 23, 2009 through December 14, 2009, all Finalist will be displayed on the Contest Website for public voting as
finalists received the most votes will be chosen as a  People’s Choice winner.
